ABBA celebrate 50 years of 'Dancing Queen' with limited edition sparkling vinyl

The launch of ABBA Voyage back in 2022 has helped remind everyone just how brilliant the Swedish superstars were, with fans continuing to enjoy the group's Golden back catalogue.

And the 50th anniversary of 'Dancing Queen' is being celebrated with a very special re-release of the track, as well as a whole load of fancy merchandise.

At the centre is a limited edition sparkling 10" vinyl single, with the song and its flipside 'La Reina Del Baile' being remastered at Abbey Road, available for pre-order now for release on August 14, 2026.

If you don't want something quite as fancy, there's a standard 10" black vinyl too.

The celebratory merch is available a little sooner, from June 16.

There's a host of apparel available: an ABBA logo striped long sleeve shirt, Dancing Queen vintage cap, Dancing Queen '76 ringer T-shirt, Arrival album T-shirt, Dancing Queen Rhinestone T-shirt, Dancing Queen band T-shirt, ABBA socks, a Dancing Queen Vintage cap, and an I Work All Night I Work All Day runners cap.

There's also an Arrival album key ring, and Arrival album patch pack and pin pack.

'Dancing Queen' was written by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with additional songwriting credit for the band's manager Stig Anderson.

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus started recording the track on August 4, 1975, and the original demo was called 'Boogaloo'.

When Benny played Anni-Frid Lyngstad the backing track she is said to have burst into tears at how beautiful it was.

"And that was before me and Agnetha had even sung on it!" Anni-Frid told The Guardian in 2014. "I knew it was absolutely the best song ABBA had ever done."
