Fleetwood Mac will ‘never play live again’ after Christine McVie's death

Mick Fleetwood suggests that it's the end of the road for Fleetwood Mac.

Despite significant lineup changes and a couple of years break in the mid-1990s, Fleetwood Mac have been together as a band for over half a century.

Now Mick Fleetwood has suggested that the band will no longer play live, following the death of long-standing member and key songwriter Christine McVie.

"I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris," Mick told the Los Angeles Times.

"I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before. It's sort of unthinkable right now."

He added that he still planned to play live in the future but "not as Fleetwood Mac".

Speaking on the Grammys Red Carpet about his Mac bandmates: "They all get out and play, so I’m gonna be doing the same thing, finding people to play with... anyone out there?"

Drummer Fleetwood and bass player John McVie are the only ever-presents in the Fleetwood Mac lineup since the group's first album in 1967, with the rhythm section giving their name to the then-Peter Green fronted group.

The most recent official lineup of the band featured Mick and John alongside Christine, who joined in 1970, and Stevie Nicks, who joined in 1975.

Also in the last lineup of the group were Crowded Houses's Neil Finn and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Mike Campbell.

They joined the band in 2018 after Lindsey Buckingham was forced from the group.

The last Fleetwood Mac show was a career-spanning set at Oracle Park in San Francisco on November 20, 2019.
