Fleetwood Mac have "healed" and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are "talking all the time"

Could a Fleetwood Mac reunion be on the way?

When Lindsey Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac for the second time in 2018 following his repeated sparring with former musical and romantic partner Stevie Nicks, any sort of reconciliation seemed impossible.

Buckingham was replaced by Mike Campbell and Neil Finn for the Mac's final years before the death of Christine McVie in 2022 seemingly put an end to the group.

McVie's passing didn't immediately result in a thawing of relations between Buckingham and Nicks, but in the last year or so the pair have finally reconciled.

In July 2025 they choreographed some social media posts together to tease the belated reissue of their joint Buckingham Nicks album, which was first released in 1973 before the pair joined Fleetwood Mac.

And now Buckingham has confirmed that both he and Nicks are back on speaking terms, and even hinted at future projects in the year ahead.

“Fleetwood Mac has been working on a documentary," Buckingham told E!

"I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us."

He continued: "We had left things in 2019, maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons.

"No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out.

“Stevie and I are talking all the time now. Next year should be a pretty interesting year, because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves."

Buckingham and Nicks met at high school and were in a band called Fritz. After the group split they started dating and released Buckingham Nicks together, before joining Fleetwood Mac.

They split in 1977, with their breakup covered in a number of songs on the massive Rumours album. including Nicks' 'Silver Springs' and 'Dreams' and Buckingham's 'Go Your Own Way' and 'Second Hand News'.

Despite the end of their romantic relationship, they both remained in Fleetwood Mac till Buckingham was Buckingham was axed in 2018.

In the years since, Buckingham has maintained that Nicks was the reason he was fired from Fleetwood Mac and the two exchanged barbs before Mick Fleetwood openly called for reconciliation in July 2024.

"Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey," Mick told Mojo.

"But I'll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily."

And for his part, Buckingham told Conan O'Brien on SirusXM of the possibility of him rejoining Fleetwood Mac in some capacity: "In a heartbeat, absolutely.

"If there’s more to come, if there’s a way to heal that, that would be great. It would be very appropriate to close on a more circular note."
