Queen + Adam Lambert haven't played together in a couple of years, but original band members Roger Taylor and Brian May had a surprise reunion on stage last night in London (September 28).

In his guise as a solo star, Roger was headlining at the Roundhouse and Camden Town as part of his Violence Insane in a Beautiful World Tour when May came on stage to lend a hand.

Taylor's career-spanning set took in songs from a number of his solo LPs as well as a clutch of songs by his former band.

The encore saw Roger bring out the Ndlovu Youth Choir for a handful of numbers, and for the final two songs – 'We Will Rock You' and 'Radio Ga Ga' – May did his thing with his usual rock god flair.

"Who the f**k is this then?" Taylor quipped to the crowd between the numbers.

Violence Insane in a Beautiful World was released last September and was Taylor's seventh solo album.

He released Fun in Space in 1981 and Strange Frontier in 1984 while Queen were very much a going concern and Freddie Mercury was leading the band.

Taylor also released three albums between 1988 and 19991 as a member of The Cross, together with Spike Edney, Clayton Moss, Peter Noone and Josh Macrae.

Speaking last year of his current tour, Roger had said: "I mean, do people want to see me live? I would hope some would.

"I thought I'd put a toe in the water, and so we're going to do about 6 or 7 dates in the UK.

"You know, I don't want to play clubs. I certainly won't be playing arenas. It's the band I'd put together for the Outsider Tour, they are fabulous."
