See Mick Jagger perform an impromptu song at an Oxford pub

The Rolling Stones frontman joins in with a student jam at the Half Moon in St Clements.

The Rolling Stones have decided not to tour their upcoming album Foreign Tongues just yet, but you can be sure that when they take to the road they'll be playing the biggest possible venues.

Stadiums, festivals, perhaps the odd arena if they must – the Stones don't tend to do things by halves unless there's a very special reason.

But while they mull over their future live plans, frontman Mick Jagger has given his voice a workout in the most intimate of surroundings: a tiny pub in Oxford.

The Rolling Stones singer was in town with his long-term partner Melanie Hamrick as guests of Oriel College, where they had a meal at high table and joined students at Evensong at the chapel on Sunday (June 7).

And after the formalities, they popped into the Half Moon in St Clements performing during the venue's weekly folk session.

"Sir Mick Jagger and partner Melanie Hamrick visited @orieloxford on Sunday as guests of the Provost and Lady Mendoza," said Oriel College on Instagram.

"Mick joined students at Evensong and dined at High Table.

"After dinner and drinks in the SCR a small group went off to the pub where Mick gave an impromptu performance with Rolling Stones keyboard player Matt Clifford and Oriel Politics academic Robert Cheah."

Handsome Molly

Jagger performed the traditional song 'Handsome Molly' along with students, having previously covered the track as the closer of his third solo album Wandering Spirit in 1993.
