Global Beatles Day is bringing Love to the world later this month

A special day for the Fab Four gets official approval.

Over half a century after The Beatles split, they still continue to inspire people across the whole world.

And back in 2009, a fan named Faith Cohen launched Global Beatles Day, an annual celebration to mark the live performance of 'All You Need Is Love' on June 25, 1967.

It was the first live global satellite broadcast, reaching over 400 million people across 26 different countries.

In the years since the event was founded it has only grown in stature, and this year it has been given the official seal of approval by The Beatles and Apple Corps Ltd.

And more than just giving the event a nod, this year the occasion will be marked by the release of a colourised video of the iconic Our World performance for free on YouTube, with a live chat for fans to share their thoughts and memories.

Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene said: "More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of 'All You Need Is Love' speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together.

"That is what makes Global Beatles Day so special. It asks nothing more than for people, wherever they are, to stop, listen, and share a little joy."

The Beatles were working on songs for Yellow Submarine and ideas for the Magical Mystery Tour TV special when they were asked to contribute to Our World by Eurovision's European Broadcasting Union, with John Lennon coming up with the song.
