The Beatles finally get back to their major special editions project with the re-release of Rubber Soul.
Not a year goes by without a fantastic Beatles announcement, with fans being spoiled by everything from Peter Jackson's Get Back docuseries to the "final" single 'Now and Then' in recent years.
But these lovely surprises have meant that the giant reissues project that kicked off in 2017 with the 50th anniversary re-release of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has slowed down.
In the immediate years that followed we got The Beatles (aka The White Album) in 2018, Abbey Road in 2019 and Let It Be in 2021 and Revolver in 2022, but it's been a long four years since.
The revamped 1962-1966 (aka The Red Album) and 1967-1970 (aka The Blue Album) compilations in 2023 hinted that The Beatles' earlier albums would also get the remastering and re-release treatment and that's exactly what's happening.
The Beatles have now announced the long-awaited release of a special edition of Rubber Soul, their sixth studio album that was originally released on December 3, 1965.
The album will be available in 4CD an 4LP+7" versions, as well as 1CD, 2CD, 2LP, 1LP and Blu-ray versions and it will feature a host of unheard and previously unreleased home demos and session recordings – including a previously unknown John Lennon demo.
"Across the Super Deluxe collections, fans can explore 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unreleased home demos - among them early versions of 'Day Tripper' and 'We Can Work It Out', plus 'Little Girl', a previously unheard John Lennon song outline never before released or even rumoured," reads the official Beatles website.
The first two discs of the 4CD version feature a 2026 remix of the album by Giles Martin and Sam Okell and a disc of outtakes, plus 2026 mixes of the 'Day Tripper'/ 'We Can Work It Out' single.
Discs three and four feature the the mono version and US version of the album. Rubber Soul: The Super Deluxe Edition will be released on October 2, 2026.
