Alan Osmond was the third oldest Osmond sibling and eldest in the group.
Singer, musician and producer Alan Osmond has died at the age of 76.
The oldest member of The Osmonds had been living with multiple sclerosis since the late 1980s, and had spent a week in intensive care earlier this month before returning home to receive hospice care.
Alan's wife Suzanne and their eight sons were at his bedside when he died on April 20.
"It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of my beloved brother, Alan Osmond," Merrill told People.
"I was grateful to be with him shortly before he passed and to share a final meaningful moment together. Alan was a gifted creator, a man of faith, and a deeply loving soul whose life blessed many."

He added: "Our family is thankful for the outpouring of love and prayers. We will honor his memory and the message he cared so deeply about. He will be missed beyond words."
Donny shared a photograph of him and Alan as young children, and wrote: "This is one of the earliest pictures I have of my brother Alan and me.
"Even back then, you can see that he had his arm around me, watching over me. That’s who he was. My protector. My guide. The one who quietly carried so much responsibility so the rest of us could shine."
He added: "Alan was our leader in every sense of the word. His tireless work helped build everything we became.
"I will always be grateful for the sacrifices he made and the love he showed—not just to me, but to every member of our family.
"I owe him more than I can ever fully express. I love you, Alan. Thank you for always being there for me. Till we meet again, Brother Donny."
Alan's son David replied: "My father loved his family more than anything in this world. Thank you uncle D for always being such an amazing brother to him. 💔🙏🏻"
Alan Osmond founded the earliest incarnation of The Osmonds in 1958 – a babershop quartet with his younger brothers Wayne, Merrill and Jay. His older brothers Virl and Tom are hearing impaired.
The group worked at Disneyland where they were discovered by Jay Emerson Williams and ended up on a number of TV shows, establishing them as one of the biggest groups of the era.
While he usually stuck to backing vocals, Alan was the band's de facto leader.

He not only co-wrote much of the group's music with Merrill, but also played piano and guitar and even co-produced the songs and choreographed their dance moves.
Alan married cheerleader Suzanne Pinegar in 1974 and they had eight sons together.
He stopped performing with The Osmonds in 2007, though was part of sister Marie Osmond's 60th birthday celebration event alongside Jay, Wayne and Merrill in 2019.
Alan is the second of The Osmonds to die, after the passing of Wayne on New Year's Day 2025 at the age of 73.
