'All By Myself' singer Eric Carmen dies, aged 74

Singer-songwriter Eric Carmen has died at the age of 74.
News of his passing was confirmed by his wife Amy on his official website.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen," read the statement.
"Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend."
She added: "It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy."

Carmen was the frontman of Raspberries, which he co-founded with Jim Bonfanti and Wally Bryson.
After four albums and the massive hit 'Go All The Way', the group broke up and Eric kicked off an incredibly successful solo career.
His most well-known song was 1975's 'All By Myself', which went to number 12 in the UK and as high as number 2 in the US charts.

The song was a hit all over again in 1996 when it was covered by Celine Dion.
Carmen's other singles included 'Never Gonna Fall in Love Again', 'She Did It' and 'Make Me Lose Control'.
His 'Hungry Eyes' featured on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, and reached number 4 in the US.
