The last time Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel shared a stage was way back in 2010, when their latest and last musical reunion fell apart in typically acrimonious fashion.

The duo didn't speak for over a decade, but had a tearful reconciliation in 2024.

Both men have made recent returns to the stage after some time away, and the resumption of their friendship has led to inevitable speculation of an on-stage Simon & Garfunkel reunion for the first time in over 15 years.

Quizzed about their meeting, Art told The Guardian: "That was about a year ago and I haven’t seen him in the last year."

Art then questioned the newspaper about Simon's comeback Quiet Celebration tour ("Did he speak much? How many musicians did he have?").

But the singer refused to give a firm answer either way on the possibility of some Simon & Garfunkel live shows.

"You know what I think is more interesting? Walking from western Ireland to Istanbul," he said.

"But yes, we got together. Who knows what the future will bring? Life is a surprise. I don't know what happens next month. I don't know what happens after we die."

Speaking in 2024, Garfunkel confirmed: "I met with Paul Simon for the first time in years just recently. We had a lunch together. It was very, very warm and wonderful.

"There were tears. I was crying at a certain point because I felt that I had hurt him. But there were hugs. I'm cherishing this two-week-old memory of having lunch with Paul Simon."
