Billy Joel has given fans a health update after he was diagnosed with a serious brain disorder.

The singer-songwriter postponed planned shows at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Anfield Stadium in Liverpool for a full year after undergoing surgery.

Joel was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) in May, forcing him to push back a number of live dates in the US and UK.

Speaking on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Joel has now opened up about his condition and recovery.

He explained that as he recovers he has a poor sense of balance, which feels like he's "on a boat"

"It's not fixed, it's still being worked on" Joel said.

"I feel good. They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder. It sounds a lot worse than what I’m feeling."

He added of the cause of his NPH: "Nobody knows. They don't know. I thought it must be from drinking. I don't anymore, but I used to like a fish."

"I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”
