Billy Joel - Turn the Lights Back On (LIVE at the 66th Grammys)
Earlier this year, Billy Joel surprised everyone with his first new material in over 15 years.
In February 2024 he released 'Turn the Lights Back On', a song co-written with Freddy Wexler, Arthur Bacon and Wayne Hector, and produced by Wexler.
While he has never stopped touring, the track seemed to be a metatextual nod to Joel's long absence from the studio.
On it, he sings: "I'm late. But I'm here right now / And I’m trying to find the magic / That we lost somehow / Maybe I was blind / But I see you now /As we're laying here in the darkness / Did I wait too long to turn the lights back on?"
Joel cemented his return with a stunning performance at the Grammy Awards.
Also this year, Joel finally wrapped up his unprecedented monthly residence at Madison Square Garden after a decade of regular concerts.
