Graham Nash has ruled out any chance of a full musical reunion with former bandmates Stephen Stills and Neil Young.

Nash was a founding member of Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young), who had an on-off working relationship for half a century after joining forces in the late 1960s.

Nash had joined the group after leaving The Hollies, while Stills and Young had played in Buffalo Springfield. David Crosby had been a key member of The Byrds.

Crosby died in 2023 at the age of 81, and while Nash reunited with his old Hollies bandmate Allan Clarke for the Buddy Holly tribute 'Buddy's Back' that year, he's said that collaboration with Stills and Young together simply isn't going to happen.

“David was the heartbeat of the band and since he has passed away I don’t think the rest of us will ever collaborate again," Nash told The Arts Fuse.

"Also, Stephen has retired and Neil won’t play any CSN songs so if you want to hear them you have to come see me."

That's despite Nash and Stills sharing a stage together in 2025, when they both joined Dawes for a final singalong of the CSNY song 'Teach Your Children' for the FireAid LA Benefit Concert at the Kia Forum.

"Whenever the city of Los Angeles gets into trouble, the musicians are right there, and I'm proud to be one of them," Nash said from the stage.

Despite Stills' supposed retirement in 2021, he had returned to the stage in 2023 for a tribute concert honouring Joni Mitchell.

He shared a stage with Neil Young (and Joe Walsh) at the same year's Light Up The Blues event, and again the following year for the Harvest Moon charity show.

But Nash's comments echo what he told Rolling Stone back in 2024 about the possibility of a SNY reunion.

"I don't think that me and Stephen and Neil will ever play together again," he said then.

"There's no heart there. David was the center of it all, as crazy as he was. And my God, he was crazy. But he was the heart of this band.

"And that's why I think that if Stephen and Neil and I ever played together, people would be missing Crosby. We would be missing Crosby. It just would be a much colder scene."

At that time Stills had refused to completely close the door on the possibility.

"I can't be so absolute," Stills told The Globe and Mail then.

"There might be a reason for us to sing together. Maybe the upcoming election. But, at this point, it's not about would we get together. Should we, is the important question."
