Jaafar Jackson leads the new film Michael, but how well do he and the rest of the cast match their real-life counterparts?

The long awaited Michael Jackson biopic Michael has premiered at movie festivals and is poised to hit screens, and we've been watching the trailer over and over in anticipation.

As well as enjoying the music that changed the world, we've been paying close attention to the cast, and weighing up how well they match the very real people that they're playing.

We've got our freeze-frame out and snapped the biggest and most important players, and put them side-by-side.

Jaafar Jackson obviously has a bit of a genetic advantage, being Michael's nephew, and he also seems to inhabit his famous uncle's spirit beyond the physical similarity.

And you can check out the representations of the Jackson 5, Michael's parents Joe and Katherine, super producer Quincy Jones and manager John Branca below and make up your own mind for how well they match up to the real deal.

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson who released his debut single 'Got Me Singing' in 2019 and is making his major movie bow in the film.

You might have seen Kendrick Sampson on any number of US TV shows, including The Vampire Diaries, Gracepoint, How to Get Away with Murder, The Flash and Insecure.

His recent movies include Miss Juneteenth and Something from Tiffany's.

A Broadway star, Primetime Emmy winner (and Tony and Oscars nominee), Colman Domingo has some serious pedigree.

His movie roles include Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Color Purple and Candyman.

It's hard to move for classic works Nia Long has appeared in, from Boyz n the Hood and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to Friday and Soul Food.

More recently she's appeared in films like You People and Missing.

Miles Teller broke through with the Divergent films before making a major splash with Whiplash.

Attorney John Branca was a major figure in Michael Jackson's life, with his impact continuing to this day as co-executor of the estate of Michael Jackson and Chairman of The Michael Jackson Company.
