Peter Frampton has kept himself busy in recent years both on the road and in the studio.

But while his last few albums have been covers, reworking or instrumentals, he has now announced his first LP of newly-written songs in 16 years.

Carry The Light is Frampton's first album of original material since 2010's Thank You Mr. Churchill and features a host of special guests.

Helping the guitar hero out on the record are Benmont Tench, Graham Nash, Sheryl Crow, Tom Morello, H.E.R. and Bill Evans.

The album is released on May 15 and is available to pre-order now.

"This record is a very special one for me. I got to write and produce it with my son Julian, as well as work with some wonderful friends along the way," said Frampton on Instagram.

"The first song from the album, 'Buried Treasure' featuring @benmonttench a tribute to Tom Petty is out now.

"I hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making it."
