If you know anything about Nick Mason, it's probably that his drumming was an absolutely key part of the Pink Floyd sound.
Superfans may also know that he was the only ever-present in the band's lineup: Syd Barrett left early on, Richard Wright was forced out for nearly a decade, Roger Waters quit for good, and David Gilmour joined a couple of years after the group was founded.

Nick Mason has a sprinkling of co-writing credits on some of Pink Floyd's best-known songs, including 'Echoes', 'Interstellar Overdrive' and 'Time', and also tours the band's earlier work with Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets.
Those royalties have probably helped Mason maintain his expensive rock 'n' roll habit – living in a gorgeous country house with his wife Annette and buying very flashy high-performance cars, including one inspired by Pink Floyd's The Wall album.
Nick and Annette bought the 18th-century Middlewick House in Wiltshire in 1995, with its previous owners including Andrew and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Fans can get a peek at his garden and those high-performance vehicles next week, but it's not Mason showing off.
Money raised from the Middlewick House Open Garden will be going to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity and The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
