Over four decades after it was founded, you might be surprised at some of the massive names that are not yet in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Even if you take into account the strict eligibility rules – you can only be nominated 25 years after the release of your first record – there are some big artists you might have already assumed are in there but aren't.

Some of those wrongs will be righted this year, with some absolutely brilliant artists being nominated for induction in the Class of 2026.
The full list of nods for the year ahead announced today (February 25) are as follows:
- The Black Crowes
- Jeff Buckley
- Mariah Carey
- Phil Collins
- Melissa Etheridge
- Lauryn Hill
- Billy Idol
- INXS
- Iron Maiden
- Joy Division / New Order
- New Edition
- Oasis
- P!nk
- Sade
- Shakira
- Luther Vandross
- Wu-Tang Clan
Ten of the 17 listed are being nominated for the first time, including Jeff Buckley, Luther Vandross and – as a solo artist – Phil Collins, too.
Collins is actually already an inductee in the Rock Hall, having successfully joined as a member of Genesis in 2010.
If he gets in as a solo performer when the results are announced in April 2026, he'll be only the 29th artist to be inducted more than once.

Meanwhile, those looking to get at the second or later time of asking include Iron Maiden (2021 and 2023), Joy Division and New Order (2023 and 2025), Oasis (2024 and 2025), Billy Idol (2025) and Sade (2024).
The main inductees in the Class of 2025 were Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.
Early/musical influences inductees last year were Salt-n-Pepa and Warren Zevon, while the Ahmet Ergtegun Award for non-performers went to Lenny Waronker.
