His death was announced "with heavy hearts" by his three sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson, who found success in the 1990s as the pop trio 3T.
In a statement on Instagram, they shared their sorrow: "We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken." Accompanying family photos, they wrote, "Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their wellbeing."
They added: "He will be missed tremendously. It will forever be 'Tito Time' for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached, and that is, 'Love One Another.' We love you, Pops."
Tito Jackson was a founding member of The Jackson 5, alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, who later became a global solo superstar before his death in 2009.
Tito's steady rhythm guitar and vocal contributions helped define the group's signature Motown sound, with hits in the 1970s like 'ABC', 'I Want You Back', and 'I'll Be There'.
Born Toriano Adaryll Jackson in 1953, Tito grew up in a musical family in Gary, Indiana, and rose to prominence as part of the Jackson 5's early success.
After the group's popularity waned, Tito embarked on a solo career and eventually released his first solo album, Tito Time, in 2016. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with The Jackson 5 in 1997.
Tito was one of nine siblings, including Janet and LaToya Jackson, who also achieved fame in their own right. His legacy in music and as a father remains deeply cherished.
